Folly of Loving Beauty without Love
Beauty and love should never be apart,
As Nature has meant them, bound from the start.
Love finds its form in beauty, true and right,
And beauty shines through love’s own perfect light.
A friend may be what soul finds pure and fair,
But love must grow from more than just the air.
What beauty seeks, in love’s true form is found,
In shared connection, where both hearts are bound.
I’ve loved you once in mockery, not true,
Not love for you, but love in my own view.
So beauty sings, but not for you alone,
Thanking my God, my heart stays in its home,
Lest, like a slave who wears a king’s fine gown,
It loses worth, not fitting in its crown.
