Why Is It Like This?

Why Is It Like This?

We stay up for a three-hour show,
find fiction books hard to put down,
Yet we yawn when its time to pray.

Why do we scroll past a post about God,
Why do our prayers get smaller?
While clubs and parties grow bigger?

Why is it easy to cheer for a star,
But hard to spend time with the One who made us?
Why are we afraid to talk about God?

We are bold when the topic is anything else.
Will you share this or scroll on by?
Only to share that off color joke?

God once said:
If you deny Me before others,
I will deny you on the day that matters most.

About the Author: Sarah B. Royal

Sarah B. Royal’s writing defies convention. Her poetry and prose traverse the boundaries between structure and spontaneity, often weaving together philosophical inquiry, cultural reflection, and personal narrative. With a background in experimental literature, she is known for crafting works that challenge readers to engage intellectually and emotionally.
