Let these few words recount what I have done,
As a thief I lied, failed in my pride.
Yet, knowing Christ, my soul unbound, all sins erased.
I stumbled and fell, my spirit unwell.
Yet, none can enslave those that are free.
In shame I walked, of desires I talked.
Yet with fists and faith all foes dismayed.
I betrayed God, yet again—the devil did grin.
Yet beneath my heel the slanderer’s head will bow.
I laid prostrate before the throne, unworthy of a crown.
Yet My Lord, in purple robes arrayed, declared my victory—
His knelt to raise me high, and in forgiveness I
was given grace through faith, eternal praise!
Peace restored where sorrows cease.
Yet I stumble and fall each day. At night in mourning, I pray.
In Jesus I wake in joy, eternal gain!
when it is my time to die, I will not protest nor cry,
At dawn, I will rise, in joy and robes of white,
To be led by angels to new life, free from sins and strife,
to walk through gates as heaven touches my face,
through gardens, cleansed of stain, past sins and sorrow’s pain—
All praise to my Lord and My God through eternity!
