To My Future Self

To My Future Self

Dear Self I’ve yet to meet,

my heart a workshop of both hope and fret,
I pen this in a car on a crowded street—
each mile a new ache I’ve not felt yet.

Recall the girl who sat in the back row in class,
her eyes lit by specters of might-have-been;
let her fears release, let gratitude amass
for every stumble that taught you to begin.

When dusk descends and doubts confide,
remember this dispatch of faith and grace—
you are the promise she dared not hide,
the answered dream of her silent chase.

Yours,
The Self who dared to dream aloud.
