A Bad Poem Part Two

A Bad Poem Part Two

I’ve set my “bad” out in the air,
Like laundry, no one wants to wear—
Hung childhood lines upon the wire,
To see if the sun or scorn catches them on fire.
You say that market poetry will fall
Too flat, too thin, too short, too small—
Yet they are not so far removed
From drafts you once yourselves approved.
You’ve walked the same unpunctuated
roads where rhyme is overrated,
Where every second breath confessed
The kind of pain that sounds professed.
Yet, I might smile and tip my pen—
A poem’s a poem, now and then.
Some folks will hate it, some, with me, will be done.
I don’t fret too much about what it might become.
