The Weight Within

The Weight Within
Bask not in lust that fades like mist,
If sin in disguise, the soul has kissed—
A shame no gold can exorcise.
A vanity the heart must resist.

Mask the night, where guilt returns,
Soft creeps the subtle sin that burns,
To haunt the hours out of sight—
The cost of things we keep within.

Truth lights the way—a deeper glow,
More constant than the world’s array.
In silence, strength begins to grow.
And turns the dark of doubt away.

So when the world’s temptation’s loud,
Walk not above, but through the crowd—
And bear the crown with head bowed low,
God knows what man will never show.
