We Leave As We Came

From the moment you came, stripped of attire,
To the day of departure, no garments acquire,

Empty-handed you arrived, devoid of possession,
Empty-handed you’ll leave, devoid of obsession.

In weakness, you entered this worldly domain,
And in weakness, you’ll exit, no strength to sustain,

Then why harbor hatred, envy, and pride?
When all that we hold will here reside?

For all that we gather, material and grand,
Will stay behind, in this earthly land,

We earned it here, and here it shall stay,
As we embark on our final day.

But there’s one thing that will truly transcend,
A legacy of love that will not end,

Compassion, humility, and gratitude’s grace,
Kindness and helpfulness, they leave a trace.

Empathy displayed, a legacy’s spark,
God’s spirit is kindled, lighting the dark,

These virtues you’ve nurtured, they’ll surely remain,
A legacy profound, where others attain,

For on the day of departure, when all is said,
It’s love and kindness that carry ahead.

These precious virtues we earn and impart,
They shape our journey, they touch each heart,

Leaving behind a trail of goodwill,
A legacy that others will gladly fulfill.

Blessed is the day, when we truly comprehend,
That in giving and caring, our spirits transcend,

So let us embrace this blessed day,
When in Jesus, we find our way,

For in the end, when all is said and done,
It’s the legacy of love that has truly won.
