Give me this moment: 2003

I intend to publish this poem in a book called Hope Ever After.

As a shipwrecked soul you found me
and dared to toss a life line.
As these turbulent seas surround me,
before you leave me behind,
Give me this moment.
Let me treasure this moment.
This single moment in time.
Give me this moment.
Don’t promise tomorrow.
Just give me this moment,
my lover, my friend.
For in this moment
there is no sorrow.
I pray this moment
may never end.
In a sea of despair,
destined to drown,
you found me there
and brought me to ground.
In your arms I found love.
I found life in your arms.
I found myself in your eyes,
in your smile, in your charms.
and tomorrow my love if you be gone,
I know I can make it alone.
Now I stand on my own.
Sweet grace that found me here
promise me you’ll stay.
In this moment I do not fear.
My love don’t send me away.
As a shipwrecked soul you found me
and dared to toss a life line,
But if on the morrow,
my love you’re no longer mine,
Give me this moment,
I’ll treasure this moment.
This single moment in time.
Give me this moment.
Don’t promise tomorrow.
Just give me this moment,
my lover, my friend.
For in this moment there is no sorrow.
I pray this moment may never end.
‘Till then,
give me this moment.
Let me treasure this moment.
This single moment in time.
