What Love Is (dedicated to Charlie Kirk)

“Love is not affirmation, love is not confirmation, love is making sure you care so much about the other that you are willing to challenge and point out flaws when you see them, and have the courage to articulate it, that’s what love is.” -Charlie Kirk

What Love Is

Love is not praise that blinds the eyes,
Nor flattery dressed in borrowed disguise.

It is not echo, meek, untrue,
That nods at all the things you do.

Love dares to speak when silence harms,
To guard, protect through truth’s alarms.

It points out flaws with gentle aim,
Not seeking pride, nor giving shame.

For love is courage, fierce and kind,
A loyal heart, a truthful mind.
