Salt and Light

We stand out—
not out of place,
but out of darkness into His day.

We face our trials—
a face set firm,
a facing turned toward the Son.

His presence—
not presents wrapped in paper,
but Presence wrapped around us.

People notice—
they note our joy,
yet also the fall, A notice of our stumble—

Recorded, still, the Spirit fills—
filling like a cup brimming,
fills like a sail catching holy wind.

We are salt—
not wasted on the earth,
but tasted in every act of grace.

We are light—
not light as in weightless,
but light as in burning bright.

And so we testify—
a testimony written in word,
and in the wordless way we live.

not out of place, a face set firm.
not presents wrapped in paper.
they note our joy, filling like a cup brimming,

not wasted on the earth,
not light as in weightless,
a testimony written in word.
