The Turning Heart

The Turning Heart

I rise with hope, I rise with light,
I rise from ashes into sight.
Through storm, through flame, through bitter art—
I rise to mend the broken heart.

To love, to lose, to learn, to yearn,
To wander paths that twist and turn,
To dream without, to dwell within,
To break, to heal, to end, begin.

The more I give, the more I gain,
The more I’m lost, the more I’m plain.
I lose to find; I find through loss—
A circle bound in bloom and cross.

No stars, no sun, no rest, no peace—
Still I press on, and find release.
I fall for grace, I fall for truth,
I fall for time, I fall for youth.

And when all fades, when night is deep,
When prayers are sown in fields of sleep—
With hope, I rise, with light, I rise.
From dark—I rise, with end in sight, I rise.

Where the devices appear:

Anaphora: Repetition of “I rise”, “To love, to lose”, “The more I…”, “I fall…” at the start of phrases.

Parallelism: Balanced grammatical structures like “To love, to lose, to learn, to yearn.”

Asyndeton: Omission of conjunctions in lists (e.g. “No stars, no sun, no rest, no peace”).

Chiasmus: “I lose to find; I find through loss.” (reversal of structure).

Epistrophe: Repetition at line ends—“From dark—I rise, with end in sight, I rise.”
