Anastrophe Verse
Anastrophe is a literary device where the normal word order of a sentence or phrase is deliberately inverted. This technique is often used in poetry to create emphasis, enhance rhythm, or evoke a particular mood. Anastrophe can make a poem feel more lyrical, mysterious, or dramatic by placing words in an unexpected sequence.
The Window Beyond
Bright the sky, with golden hue it glows,
Soft the breeze that through branches flows.
Quiet the world, though beating fast my heart,
Fades, the moment, lingers—us apart.
In this poem, normal syntax (“The sky is bright” → “Bright the sky”) is rearranged, using anastrophe to create a more poetic and rhythmic effect.
