Table of Contents constraint poetry project. In this constraint, a poetry anthology originally published in 1925 was used. In each chapter section, titles were organized by theme and used to create a new poem.
In the heart of Babylon, two Nocturnes play,
A melody of whispers on Christmas Eve’s display.
Through the whiteness of winter, their notes ascend,
Proclaiming love’s journey, where paths do bend.
In the midst of the city’s bustling pace,
A Prothalamion, a song, in a crowded space.
Captured by the road’s end, where dreams unfold,
Two souls bound together, in promises bold.
At the altar, where hopes and fears collide,
The click of the latch, where destinies abide.
Hand in hand, they take their sacred vow,
In the presence of love, in solemn endow.
Together they stand, amidst the mothers’ embrace,
The girl takes her place, with a radiant face.
Her unborn baby, a promise of new life,
In the symphony of love, amidst joy and strife.
Through the night’s embrace, their love does bloom,
In the quiet moments, beyond the gloom.
For in the union of hearts, where dreams are spun,
Two Nocturnes intertwine, until the morning sun.
