Uncovered

Uncovered

Bare hearts stand in uneven light,
Trying hard to make things right.
We stand so close but stay apart,
Holding pieces of the heart.

Half our hopes get lost in air,
Words drift off and disappear.
We grab at shapes that feel like truth,
But miss the root, the living proof.

Sense without a solid ground
Leaves our thoughts just spinning round.
Round and round the circles spin,
No clear way to enter in.

Love comes close but not exact,
Like bending lines that almost match.
Lines may break but still they last,
we are echoes from our future’s past.

This is just a break that has yet to bend.
Stillness doesn’t mean the end,
Loss doesn’t have to mean we’re done.
It’s just a pause before we run.

We weigh our words but never say
The things we’re scared to give away.
Not every cause will bring a start,
Not every beat becomes a heart.

The things we promise fade away,
Like boats that drift from shore to bay.
Dreams hide deep in shadowed rooms,
Waiting for the day they bloom.

Still we search for something whole,
A steady truth to fill the soul.
Past the cracks and through the fall,
Life is waiting after all.
