Reflecting on the Chapters of my life: End of Chapter One, Start of Chapter Two. From The Book

Writing poetry is a curious thing,

a journey of discovery,

a journey of the heart,

a journey so raw,

Innocence, confusion, intermingling,

a testament to mystery,

imperfect from the start.

Beauty in the flaw,

In childhood, words flowed like a stream

Reflecting on a life so full of peace,

The poems of Childhood, a chapter so dear,

Innocence pure, like a dream.

As a child, my words flowed with ease,

Filled with memories, of joy and fear,

Innocence was the color of my days,

But as I grew, so did my needs,

Emotions poured out, through each line,

As I wrote of love and simple ways.

Of the good and evil deeds,

I navigated the twists and turns of time.

Innocence mixed with confusion, a tangled mess,

Like wandering in a maze of emotion,

As I navigated life’s ever-changing ways.

But with each poem, I found solace and happiness.

But then every turn leads to a new commotion.

Each word is a reflection, of life’s varied days

As I grew, the poems evolved,

Innocence lost, but wisdom gained,

as I grew, confusion set in,

reflections of life’s problems unsolved,

Through the word, my soul remained.

Lost in a labyrinth, a battle to win.

As confusion began to intercede,

The innocence of my life was over,

Emotions tangled, like a knotted thread,

Less and less was the good deed,

The chapters of my life crossed over

Lost in a labyrinth of fears and dread.

Innocence was no more, I realized,

As I let the words flow, the ink spill,

Breaking free, from the chaos around.

my heart and soul were compromised,

each poem, the persistence of will,

Through words a way out I found.

To overcome life’s labyrinthine maze,

To overcome the confusion, climb uphill.

To overcome and find my way,

find the light, through life’s darkest days.

Each poem is a testament to the strength of will,

so I write, with each passing day,

With pen and paper, I found my way,

A way to heal and break new ground.

My poetry is a record of weakness and strength,

words flowing freely, guiding me day by day.

Through the written word I found

The will to create, a future, a testimony

So here I stand, with pen in hand,

Reminiscing and reflecting, wisdom gained,

For the chapters of life that I know,

now grateful for the journey and the plan,

A path of self-discovery, forever ingrained.

Poetry that’s helped me to grow.

    1. Aside from these fictional short story segments, which are not yet edited for book publication, I released the poems as an autobiographical collection. Lost in the Lost and Found (The Making of Sarah B. Royal) available on Amazon.
