The Trial of the Trail (associative poetry)
Trial by judgment on the freeway—
I saw no way free.
From the test of my mind on the highway.
I saw no high way.
To run was my opinion—
down a side road by the road side.
Yet lacking was my attempt at sentiment
along the dirt drive—
As if I could drive dirt!
This was an effort of persuasion—
this trial I found trailing.
Even if I were to endeavor to see the view—
but my path was pathetic.
I might try if I thought there was a way.
