Night Love Ghazal

The sun sinks low in amber light, my heart’s sigh,
The sea holds back its fading bright, my heart’s sigh.

The stars appear, then disappear in clouds,
Each one returns as borrowed sight, my heart’s sigh.

The moon lifts slowly above the sleeping waves,
A silver wound made soft by night, my heart’s sigh.

I walk where no one answers but the sea,
Yet still the dark becomes delight, my heart’s sigh.

Mahi-mahi swims through the waves to shore,
A love I cannot hold too tight, my heart’s sigh.

Royal, turn from day to dream again,
my love is very strong tonight, my heart’s sigh.
