Mono-Letter Acrostic
A Mono-Letter Acrostic is a WoPoLi acrostic variation in which every line begins with the same letter. Instead of spelling a word downward, the poem uses one repeated initial letter as a sound, visual pattern, and constraint. The repeated letter may be chosen for a person’s name, a subject, a mood, or a symbolic association.

A Mono-Letter Acrostic often includes repetition, alliteration, compression, and a strong visual column. The challenge is to keep the poem meaningful rather than merely mechanical. The repeated letter should create pressure, music, or emphasis.

To write a Mono-Letter Acrostic, choose one letter. Begin every line with that letter. The poem may use full sentences, fragments, list structure, prayer, chant, or lyric movement. If possible, let the chosen letter connect to the poem’s subject.
