Ghosted Grid Poem

Word-grid poem, bidirectional grid poem, or crossword poem. Is not a traditional fixed form like a sonnet. If the rows and columns were identical, it would be a word square; this design uses different readings across and down.

1Youaremylove
2Areyoulovein-death
3Amemorydoesn’thold-me
4Ghostto-mefadecome-back

Reading downward:

Column 1: “You are a ghost.”
Column 2: “Are you memory to-me.” Your intended line, “Are you a memory to me,” requires five word positions rather than four.
Column 3: “My love doesn’t fade.”
Column 4: “Love in-death hold-me come-back.”

The hyphenated terms function as single grid entries visually, although they technically contain compound words. Punctuation can be added after the words are read.
