Accountant-poets
There are many accountant-poets.
Most accountants are successful.
This is not so for accountant-poets.
Few accountant-poets are famous.
Some accountant-poets work in public,
Other accountants work in corporate finance,
They are praised for doing good work.
Accountant-poets are not often praised.
Accountants also work with taxes,
These accountants are fired for doing bad work.
This is not so for accountant-poets,
as they are rarely paid.
Some accountants work by auditing,
These accountants are often disliked.
Accountant-poets are rarely disliked
but also are rarely liked.
Usually accountants enjoy stable careers.
Accountant-poets are accused of not having a career.
In the field of accounting and poetry—
success is not uniform.
Stereotypes often portray accountant-poets as
introverted, and solely focused on numbers/words.
In reality, many accountant-poets are outgoing,
creative, and strategic advisors.
They use analytical skills, communication,
and professional judgment
to help people make informed decisions—
people who are not good at accounting or poetry.
Visible success is not a reflection of their value—
many are respected within their social groups,
but their contributions are not always seen,
which is why, I am not an accountant-poet.
