If I Saw an Angel

If I Saw an Angel

Angels encamp around those who fear God (Psalm 34:7)
He makes His angels winds (Psalm 104:4)
They serve God and assist His people.
They rejoice over repentance,
as servants of God.

God is strength to those who stand in his presence.
If I were to dream as Daniel did dream, seeing—
face like lightning, eyes like flaming torches,
arms and legs like burnished bronze,
voice like a multitude…

If I were to see as Ezekiel saw, and seeing
A holy angel appearing as a man
holding a measuring rod
appearing like bronze
radiant, powerful…

If I were to look upon, or even dream, moving in perfect unity—
eyes like flames of fire, feet like burnished bronze,
the wheels within wheels in the sky,
with voice like many waters
those wheels full of eyes…

If I were to look upon not one but many—
their four faces, a bronze‑like gleam
moving with lightning speed
sparkling like bright beryl,
divine mobility…
