Doubt Speaks
I stand at the mouth of a thousand roads,
each curling like smoke into darkness.
I ask them where they lead—
they only repeat back my question.
Truth used to gleam—a fixed star,
but now it stutters in its own light,
blinks once,
and vanishes behind my eyes.
Even my shadow doubts me.
It slips in directions I do not follow.
My name—faith—was once a door.
Now, less, it is a lock
without a key or keyhole.
To God do we pray
when every answer feels like
the wrong one?
What body do I wear
when mine no longer fits
the shape of knowing?
Doubt Speaks
